Credit Suisse – Volunteering with Ardoch

In October 2020 Credit Suisse and Ardoch launched a three-year Premier Strategic – National partnership. The partnership is designed to deliver and scale Ardoch’s Pathways Beyond School and Robotics programs. Through this ground-breaking partnership, we have the unique opportunity to support nearly 10,000 vulnerable young people from Victorian and New South Wales communities facing disadvantage. Working with fourteen partner secondary schools, together we aim to close the educational and employment gap by equipping students with additional skills and education toward a productive future in adulthood.

Workplace volunteering

Through this partnership, Credit Suisse employees are invited to volunteer in Mock Interviews, Speed Careers and Learning Through Lunch programs, directly giving students facing disadvantage the opportunity to engage with working role models that encourage student aspirations for learning, careers and pathways to future study.

  • Mock Interviews – we know that a crucial element of the employment process is succeeding in an interview. This program involves:
    • Students are paired one-on-one with a positive adult role model to learn how to be interviewed successfully
    • Workplace volunteers interview multiple students over the course of up to three hours, providing direct feedback and support on their interview technique
  • Learning Through Lunch – we know that social competence and wellbeing are key indicators of developmental vulnerability for children so we have designed a program focusing on social skills in a new environment. This program involves:
    • students participating in a fine dining experience, at a TAFE or hospitality training restaurant
    • adult volunteers joining students, sharing a meal together and discussing career pathways and skills required in the workplace
  • Speed Careers – we know that social capital and connections assist awareness of employment options so we focus on connecting students and schools with external organisations. This program involves:
    • students hearing from a wide variety of professionals regarding their careers, including their study pathways and skills
    • volunteers directly influence the aspirations and understanding of students about their career by presenting and discussing what is involved in their working life and career.

How to Volunteer With Ardoch

We have prepared a step-by-step guide for volunteering with Ardoch. We urge all Credit Suisse volunteers to read this document, as it contains important information regarding applying for your Working With Children Check, as well as for Sydney-based volunteers, dedicated sessions a Wynyard Service NSW for the processing of your check.
