CEO'S MESSAGE: october 2017

What do defence force personnel, a lawyer, a restaurant manager, a librarian and a not-for-profit CEO have in common?  Speed Careers with Ardoch, that’s what!

I was delighted to join a number of volunteers from a range of professions recently in a Speed Careers session with secondary students from one of our newer partner schools, Keysborough College. Part of our Pathways Beyond School program, Speed Careers gives students the opportunity to learn about a range of different career pathways in ‘speed dating-style’ fast and furious question and answer sessions: “Why did you choose this job? How did you get your job? What’s the best part about your job? and What does a CEO do?” were just some of the probing questions I was asked..

Pathways Beyond School is just one program that we are hoping to expand in our place-based regions in 2018if we are able to secure the necessary support from funders in 2018.

With 2018 in our sights we have commenced our planning for the year and are having conversations with our corporate partners to re-confirm their participation in our Literacy Buddies® and Numeracy Buddies programs, while also actively seeking to increase the number of programs we can offer to schools by signing up new corporate partners.

Both programs continue to attract positive feedback from participating employees and school partners and make a real contribution to helping children realise their potential through education.  We would be delighted to hear from interested potential new partners and you should feel free contact This email address is being protected from spambots. Finally, November is proving to be the busiest month on our event calendar.  Next month we will be releasing the results of our anticipated study on the impact of our Education Volunteers Program in a combined volunteer recognition event, mobilising keen corporate golfers to raise much needed funds to support Ardoch’s work through our annual Charity Golf Day which is supported by NAB, and hoping that Nicole Armstrong, one of our Workplace Volunteer Coordinators and AIA, one of our corporate partners, bring home the trophies in their respective categories in 2017 State Volunteering Awards.

Thanks as always for your tremendous support and if you are not already following us on your preferred social media channels, please do. I think you’ll be delighted by what you’ll increasingly see.
