CEO'S MESSAGE: november 2017

Well done to those of you in Melbourne bringing home winnings this week after Melbourne Cup Day.  This month at Ardoch we are also celebrating a few wins, but are also eagerly awaiting a few results.

Congratulations to Ardoch Founder, Kathy Hilton who will carry the baton for Ardoch in the Queen’s Baton Relay prior to next year’s Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast. This is amazing recognition of Kathy’s role as founder and Ardoch’s continued impact in helping children in disadvantaged communities realise their potential through full participation in education.

In the waiting stakes though we are finalists at Volunteering Victoria’s awards in both the Workplace Volunteering category in partnership with AIA and in the Excellence Category for our child protection work so we are looking forward to finding out the results at a special event at Parliament House on 22nd November. We would not have been selected as finalists in either category without our 1200 Workplace Volunteers giving their time so generously.

At Ardoch, we place enormous value on evidence-based work so we are very excited to be launching our Volunteer Impact Research next week undertaken by Equity Economics and supported by a significant grant from NAB.  The results are inspiring and we look forward to sharing them with you on Thursday 16th November. This will also be a special chance to recognise some of our volunteers who have completed terms of one, five and ten years.

We have sent out a number of surveys this month for programs which are coming towards their completion for 2017 as well as helping us benchmark ourselves in our sector and I would like to give special thanks to so many of you who have completed them.  This information helps us ensure our programs are of the highest impact and help us remain leaders in our field.  We have placed special priority this year on inviting input from children and young people and over 1000 students have contributed their opinions through surveys which will help us ensure our programs remain relevant and useful to them.

Finally, I look forward to launching a new fundraising initiative later this month and thank you in advance your support for Ardoch’s work.
