Ardoch recruits, trains and places education volunteers in early years services, primary and secondary schools. We ask all our volunteers to make a 6-12 month commitment.

We look for the following characteristics in our volunteers:

  • passionate about children and education
  • stable, professional role model
  • non-judgemental
  • respect for boundaries

Each applicant will be contacted within one week of completing the online application. We interview all our applicants, and ask them to undergo online training and a one-day training course within one month of applying. Volunteers usually start volunteering at schools within two weeks of placement.

The applicant must be ready to undergo a police check and a Working With Children Check, and be ready to provide two references.

Ardoch's volunteer programs have become increasingly recognised as a model of best practice in recruitment, screening, training and support of volunteers in education. Each year, hundreds of individual volunteers work in Ardoch's prevention and early intervention programs at schools and early years services.

Volunteers for LEGO Robotics Program

IMG 2505

Ardoch's LEGO Robotics programs enable primary school students to learn about science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) by designing, building, programing and testing robots. The sessions are led by trained teachers. Our volunteers support the students, learn alongside them, help with problem solving and ensure that each child is included. You can read about our LEGO Robotics program here.

No robotics expertise is needed, just a passion for LEGO, science, technology, engineering and maths and a love of problem solving. We are in the process of establishing new LEGO Robotics programs in Geelong, Frankston and Melbourne’s western suburbs.
