Bringing our Volunteers together

When: 4 Apr 2023

To start the new year off for our Education Volunteers we brought them together in their respective states. In Sydney and then Melbourne we invited our volunteers to come together and get to know each other as well as the Ardoch staff.

We took the opportunity while our CEO was in Sydney to bring together our NSW based volunteers to get to know each other over cake and coffee. This provided them with the chance to not only get to know each other but also our CEO and other key members of staff.

A couple of weeks later our Melbourne head office was a hub of activity with 14 volunteers coming together to get to know each other. While the volunteers were enjoying some food and drink we got to know them and their experiences a little bit more.

Our Education Volunteers provide valuable in-classroom support for children and young people, helping them to improve their confidence, engagement, and interaction with their education. Classroom support may relate to literacy, STEM, or other classroom activities. By committing two hours at the same time each week for at least six months – working one-on-one with a student or a group of students who need extra support – Ardoch volunteers can have a positive impact on many children’s educational outcomes.

Throughout the year our volunteers will come together for training on a variety of topics from Language development to learning about the journeys of other volunteers to learning about the different types of learners. Knowing the staff and other participants will help our volunteers to feel more at home in these sessions.

If you have 2 hours a week and would like to have a positive impact on children’s education outcomes volunteer now.
